Serendipity offers two types of Viability Assessment; A free viability assessment and a paid viability assessment.
Serendipity offer free viability assessments to which we allocate a maximum of three hours work. If a free viability assessment is requested, we require the Instructing solicitor to only send the ten key documents from the court bundle for our perusal. Serendipity will then provide a brief report which will inform the court whether we consider a residential assessment to be viable.
Serendipity offer paid viability assessments which involve a comprehensive assessment of the suitability of a family being placed at Serendipity. If a paid viability assessment is requested, we require the instructing solicitor to send the full court bundle for our perusal. If possible we would also require the parent(s) to visit Serendipity for a period of three hours, during which time they would be shown around Serendipity and the local community as well as having the opportunity to engage in a brief interview with a member of our assessment team. Serendipity would then provide a comprehensive report which would inform the court whether we consider a residential assessment to be viable.
The comprehensive, paid viability assessment is Serendipity’s preferred option, particularly for parents with learning difficulties. Where possible, we consider it to be important for parents to have a clear understanding of Serendipity’s assessment process and have the opportunity to see the living spaces and local community prior to commencing placement.
Serendipity can generally complete a viability assessment within 10 - 15 working days from the receipt of court papers. However, we would require liaison with the Instructing Solicitor to confirm timescales.
